Boza & Roel Funeral Home has a rich history serving the Latin and Anglo community of Tampa and can actually trace its beginnings to Cuba with the 1853 founding of the very first Boza Funeral Home by Arturo P. Boza and his brother. In 1889 as more Cubans migrated to America to follow the cigar industry here, Aurturo Boza Jr. opened a funeral home in Key West. His heir, Armando P. Boza introduced the first motor hearse there in 1926, and in 1928 moved the entire funeral home operations to Tampa in 11 trips with that hearse.Following the death of Armando P. Boza, Sr, Gerald M. "Jerry" Boza and Armando P. Boza, Jr. succeeded their father and continued the Boza tradition of providing caring service to the Tampa community. Following Jerry's death, Armando Jr along with his wife Margaret "Maggie" Boza continued operating the Tampa funeral homes in the family tradition. In 1999, the A.P Boza Funeral Home merged with the Roel & Curry Armenia Chapel, founded in 1975 by James Roel till 2014.Today it operates as the Boza & Roel Funeral Home, which proudly continues to serve the families of Tampa and surrounding communities as part of the NorthStar Memorial Group.

Would you know if your loved ones have pre-paid for their funerals?Funeral plans are by definition purchased by people of a certain age and that generation often regard our final passing as something they are uncomfortable discussing. Families often don’t know a plan is in existence, but now there is a new way to find out.”It’s common for people to tell their families not to worry, that they have sorted the arrangements. That’s all good, and even better as funeral plans are now regulated by the FCA with consumers’ money protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. However too often plan holders don’t share the details with their loved ones, meaning that funeral plans can go unclaimed, and even worse the family can’t follow the wishes of the deceased. As funeral plan providers, our members are determined to minimise how often that sad outcome occurs. The NAFPP is running a publicity campaign to ensure families know what is in place and having launched a very effective ‘find a funeral plan’ service late last year we already know there is a pressing need. The trace my plan service on the Association’s website www.nafpp.org helped over 200 families trace funeral plans in its first twelve weeks. One simple form connects to all our members – over 95% of all FCA authorised providers. We know families probably often won’t think about these things until the time comes but if you are a charity or organisation that works with older people, ask them if they have planned for their funeral, and if they have, make sure they have told their family the details.

According to the National Funeral Directors Association, the median funeral cost in the United States in 2019 ranged from $6,645 for a cremation with a viewing and memorial service to $9,135 for a funeral with a viewing, service and vault. When cemetery costs are factored in, the total median cost of a funeral can exceed $10,000. Even simple cremations with no service can exceed the savings a family has on hand.Especially when coupled with the grief of losing a loved one, it's important for each one of us to document and fund funeral plans in advance to relieve the financial and emotional burden as much as possible. The bottom line: When you pass away, your family is responsible for your funeral, cremation and cemetery costs. Don’t leave that burden on your family … contact me and let’s start a conversation about pre-planning! #dignitymemorial #preplanning

Why is this even needed? I’m glad you asked. When my husband died, I had to make so many important decisions in a very short span of time. My brain was a complete fog at times. I made every decision on my own. I selected the funeral home; I drove back and forth to the funeral home numerous times by myself as the world continued with business as usual. No one offered to be with me or come with me. Did I reach out for help with this? No. Why? Because I didn’t even think it was something I needed to do. I didn’t think about asking for help because I thought I could handle it all and I did but it was traumatic; crying while driving, trying to breathe, trying to see the road through the tears, trying to focus on not violating traffic laws (mostly driving too slowly because everything was in slow motion to me at that time), etc.The obituary was never a thought to me. The funeral home never mentioned it, and this was my first time dealing with something like this, so I didn’t know all the moving parts involved. It wasn’t until a week before the service that my brother-in-law mentioned the “programs.” I was like, what programs? Why did we need programs? At this point I said fine, no problem, but I can’t do that by myself. He offered to handle the programs. I never proofread the programs. I trusted they would be what they needed to be. When I saw the programs for the first time on the day of the service, it made me wish I could have hired a professional and had some input at least in the OBITUARY portion. But by now it was too late. It was at that point a minor detail. Nevertheless, I was thankful that someone stepped up to do this part for me. Don’t get me wrong, some of my husband’s family members told me, “If you need anything let us know.” I said okay, but one thing a person in grief DOES NOT KNOW is what they need. So, a little heads up, never say “if you need anything…” because ‘anything’ is ‘anything’ and everything. We don’t know what “anything” means. This word is so enormous to us and we just can’t process what “anything” actually means or is. For details and pricing on the OBITUARY WRITING SERVICE reach out to me at info@themochawidow.com

Many #funeralhomes do not make the most of their online presence. Your website is a place to showcase your services, team, and unique offerings. Are you driving awareness of what sets you apart? How do you convey this to families and other businesses? #funeralservices #endoflifeplanning #b2bmarketing #teamdevelopment #businessdevelopment

While many funeral homes are known to their local communities, there are families and other businesses who look to search engines and ultimately funeral home websites to find out more about your business. As a wise man named Michael Resnick once said (and then repeated over and over again) - "You only know what you know". This holds true for your website - those visiting only know what you tell them! Here are 5 items you should highlight on your location's website: 1. Forwarding & Receiving Services - Out-of-town funeral homes and families may need services in another locale. Let them know you are there to help them in their time of need. 2. Monuments & Memorialization Services - Families look to funeral homes for services beyond the funeral. If you have a monument company, it is pertinent to show your client families that you can provide them with meaningful tributes. 3. Local Cemeteries, Airports & Businesses - The same explanation holds for #1. If you are in close proximity to area cemeteries, airports, hotels, or restaurants, you should drive awareness toward this - you never know if a family or outside funeral home may contact you due to your location's accessibility, 4. Team Members - Be proud of your team and showcase them! In a relationship-driven business, it is always beneficial to put a face to a name. As we deal with families during very difficult times, this helps break down barriers and provides a soft introduction.5. Services - Highlight any unique or religious services your location provides. Do you have an area for catering? A mikvah for Jewish families? Specialty vehicles? No two businesses are the same - set yourself apart and showcase your location.

Ease of transportation is crucial during such times.✅ Budget Considerations:Prices vary between funeral homes, so it's advisable to call and interview a few.
