My Project

I believe that having basic classroom items will help my students become more successful in their educational journey. My students need good-quality folders that can hold up the entire school year as they are taken back and forth to school each day. This will help them to get their homework and important information home and back to school again.

My students are also in need of other classroom basics such as pencils and pencil top erasers.

Having a sharpened quality pencil with a good eraser in the hands of every student each day is essential to the learning process.

What can be more basic at school than books? I would like to provide my students with some good quality books so that they can learn the love of reading. With your support, my students will get the classroom basics that they need.

    FAQs

What was the back-to-basics movement and why was it needed? ›

Proponents urged more emphasis on basic subjects, particularly reading, writing, and arithmetic, but also science, history, geography, and grammar. They wanted schools not only to teach content but also to help children learn to work hard. They wanted the schools to demand more orderly and disciplined student behavior.

What is the biggest change that started in the 1990's that has transformed education? ›

During the 1990s, teaching and learning were transformed by the increasing power of multimedia computers, broadband networks, and significant improvements in design and delivery of pedagogical content via electronic means.

What is the back-to-basics philosophy of education? ›

Educational essentialism is an educational philosophy whose adherents believe that children should learn the traditional basic subjects thoroughly. In this philosophical school of thought, the aim is to instill students with the "essentials" of academic knowledge, enacting a back-to-basics approach.

How did the Back-to-Basics movement affect education in the 1980s? ›

In California, for example, the Legislature unanimously passed an “ABC bill” ordering the state to reform its textbooks so that children are taught the core skills of reading, spelling and math.

What happened in 1890 that changed education? ›

The bleak picture of public education—violence, low scores on standardized tests, run-down school buildings—convinced many parents to explore other education options for their children. These alternatives included homeschooling, charter schools, and school vouchers.

Why is teaching different now than in the past? ›

increased instructional technology: classrooms, schools, and students use computers more often today than in the past for research, writing, communicating, and keeping records. Technology has created new ways for students to learn (for example, this textbook would not be possible without Internet technology!).

What was the point of the education reform movement? ›

Education reform in the mid-1800s movement sought to provide a free and efficient school system for all citizens and was dedicated to responsible citizenship and moral education.
