18:58 when he said tokens don't go to the grave that's incorrect, they technically go to the grave but then they immediately disappear after.
Nope the comprehensive rules specify that if any token were to move zones, it instead disappears. This means that tokens dying never actually make it to the graveyard but disappear in the process of dying (same with bouncing and exiling).
@@jeffthedoggo7990 Xilibreak is correct. Tokens do go to the graveyard, exile or even to your hand/deck, once there state based actions check their current positioning and they cease to exist. They do not leave the graveyard, they simply fizzle out of existence.
110.5f A token that’s in a zone other than the battlefield ceases to exist. This is a state-based action.
110.5g A token that has left the battlefield can’t move to another zone or come back onto the battlefield.
This is relevant with cards like Flicker type spells, which if used on a token would instead remove that token from play.

To all new players. Honestly the best product for beginners are the jumpstart sets (2020 and 2022). You just grab 2 out of 24 boosters and make a 40 cards deck. This way you have an insane replayability value
An add-on to this advice, magic also has released jumpstart packs containing cards from a single normal set. These packs tend to play significantly worse than Jumpstart 2020 and Jumpstart 2022. Thankfully this line has since been discontinued, but if you go looking for old jumpstart sets they're easy to find and be confused by. Any pack qualified with a set name , such as Dominaria United Jumpstart or Brothers War Jumpstart generally don't play as well

@Opadei
Let's see. Dom attacks with everything (1/1, 2/2, 1/1, 7/7 and 12/12 trample.). Laurie blocks 7/7 with 2/2. Blocks 2/2 with a 3/3 and puts the rest blocking 12/12 (3/3 and 4/6). 1/1s does 2 damage and the big guy does 3 (5 damage goes thru). Dom has 3/3 and the whelp (which can be pumped up to 7 attack). So Dom was dead anyway, unless Laurie messes up the blockers (doesn't chump block the 7/7).

Yep! Same with artifact abilities. As they mentioned in the video, a common tactic is to wait to use instant-speed abilities until your opponent's end step, since you'll get whatever benefit the ability gives you and then just get all your mana back when you untap at the start of your turn.
Slight note on the die. The ones that come with Magic the Gathering sets are called spin down dice and they are laid out differently than a gaming d20. One little thing I don't think they cover in the video is the difference between Instant cards and Sorcery cards. Both are "non-permanent" (i.e. once they resolve you put them in your graveyard), but Sorcery cards can only be played during your turn (tying into the phrase "activate only as a sorcery" that some card abilities have, meaning you can only use those abilities during your turn).
Instants, on the other hand, can be played at any time as long as you have the mana to cast them. Because of this, they're most often used to disrupt an opponent's play during their turn, like how Laurie played that Instant card to deal 5 damage to Dom's creature when Dom attacked him.@32ekocหลายเดือนก่อน

This was fun to watch! Selesnya (Green + White) is my favourite starter deck to play on MTG Arena (which is free, by the way!)
It has a lot of growing creatures but is very weak to things that kill one thing. I think the Orzhov (White + Black) starter deck is very good.
Dom did a pretty common thing I'm guilty of too, which is focusing on protecting your creatures while playing an aggressive deck. You want to keep attacking your opponent so they can't build up better defences the way Laurie managed to do. If Dom kept attacking, then yeah, his elephant would die, but it'd take out a lot of stuff on Laurie's side that later won him the game! Risk is a big part of the game~
Laurie did well estimating Dom's threat, since his deck was better at drawing extra cards (so would do better long-term) and he just needed to survive the big damage burst from Dom. Which he did!
Also, yes, Dom's deck _did_ have more than one soldier, we literally saw one in the intro. XD Glad they had fun!@Azeria
