Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of USC Care Medical Group, the Executive Administrator, Keck Community Medical Group (KCMG) is responsible for planning, directing, and managing the current operations and future growth of the Keck Community Medical Group (KCMG). In conjunction with the Chief Clinical Officer of Keck Medicine of USC and with the guidance from the health system's strategy and clinical chair leadership, this Executive will develop goals and objectives for the KCMG, including the expansion of specialty and primary care in the communities that Keck Medicine serves. This individual is responsible for ensuring that KCMG delivers high-quality, cost-effective care as governed through its clinical practice committee and supporting bodies in quality, risk management, compliance, patient safety, and credentialing. The Executive will work closely with the USC Care Medical Group's Chief Ambulatory Officer, Chief Nurse Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Executive for Practice Integration and Clinical Expansion to build the community network of physicians housed within KCMG, including the strategic deployment of the clinically integrated network across the enterprise. The Executive Administrator, KCMG coordinates and communicates throughout the health system, working with all levels including executives, operational and clinical leadership, stakeholders, physicians, staff, vendors, and consultants to create smooth acquisitions, on-boarding, and network initiatives across a multi-year plan.

Essential Duties:

  • Strategic Planning and Implementation: • Provides strategic leadership and direction in developing the KCMG multi-year roadmap in line with Keck Medicine of USC Health System’s strategic plan. • Partners with Keck’s Service Line Leaders and other executives, as needed, to define the KCMG initiatives for service line strategic plans, prioritize activities, and support implementation. • Develops, organizes, implements, and administers strategic focus on system-wide performance for the Clinically Integrated Network (C.I.N.).
  • Board Administration and Support: • Provides status reports to the USC Care Medical Group Board of Directors by maintaining continual, open, and effective communication with Board members, ensuring continual alignment with the Board.
  • Operational Oversight: • Ensures operations within KCMG are appropriately delivered: healthcare services, finance, people management, operations, and others, whether directly provided within KCMG or through Keck Medicine of USC. • Establishes, secures approval, and oversees clinical operating policies and procedures. • Facilitates the design and development of the Care Coordination capabilities for KCMG’s network providers (clinically integrated network). Develops systems, workflows, and culture of accountability in transitioning patients/care. Develops capabilities of staff and systems/processes to effectively coordinate and transition patient care between network providers and Keck Medicine of USC’s hospitals and physician practices. • Designs and develops infrastructure to manage subsets of chronically ill patients with episodic tertiary needs of strategic importance. • Evaluates, develops, implements, and supports new disease management protocols across priority service lines/clinical programs.
  • Financial Management and Budget Oversight: • Collaborates with the Chief Financial Officer to develop the annual budget and capital requirements for KCMG, ensuring alignment with overall Keck Medicine of USC strategic goals, operational objectives, and financial targets. • Monitors budget performance throughout the fiscal year and takes proactive measures to address deviations. • Works closely with clinical leadership to optimize resource utilization and control costs. • Ensures appropriate administration of salaries and benefits in accordance with established guidelines and in compliance with labor agreements.
  • Quality, Safety, and Patient Experience: • Ensures compliance with healthcare, financial, and staffing laws and regulations. • Collaborates with the Medical Director(s) to implement evidence-based practices and drive continuous improvement in clinical quality, patient safety and patient experience. • Participates in issues surrounding ethics and quality. • Develops quality metrics across the network of providers/service lines/clinical programs, to include reporting, measurement, and monitoring
  • Clinically Integrated Network (CIN): • Oversees the administrative processes to support and document physician membership in the C.I.N. (ex. selection with executive teams, onboarding sessions, documents collection and signatures) • Coordinates the design work and data tracking for each C.I.N. initiative (ex. meetings with physician subject matter experts, coordination with Materials/Supply Chain and RFPs, coordination for and partnership with Ambulatory Value Improvement Office (AVIO) for physician-led design sessions, production of action plans, et. al.) • Facilitates and coordinates to achieve advancement of C.I.N. strategic initiatives and support for research and development for new C.I.N. initiatives with service line and business leaders.
  • People Management: • In partnership with Human Resources Leadership, develops and maintains an effective people management strategy including succession planning for key roles, recruitment, selection, orientation, evaluation, performance management, coaching and discipline (including discharge when necessary). • Oversees operational efforts of clinical and administrative staff in the recruitment, development, and performance evaluation of employees in collaboration with HR. • Leads efforts to support providers through recruiting, on-boarding, continuing education opportunities, medical staff and physician referral compliance education and implementation, and medical staff development. • Ensures the ongoing educational needs of self, employees and managers are identified and met, subject to available resources. • Keeps lines of communication open to ensure a professional, positive working environment. • Continually focuses on developing an organizational culture that embraces high-quality care and employee satisfaction.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Degree in Health Care related field
  • 5 years Direct or indirect experience with quality management programs and/or clinical integration, and care coordination.
  • 5 years Experience working within a large health system or a healthcare organization with equivalent size and complexity; ideally medical foundation experience in California.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (negotiation, listening and communication skills) characterized by effective interactions with a diverse range of internal and external constituents, stakeholders and audiences.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and the ability to bridge the gap between administrative demands, clinical needs and budgetary constraints.
  • Relationship-driven, consultative, a team player, and able to effectively lead strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated successful experience with physician relationships.
  • Strong public relation skills and executive presence.
  • Flexibility and high tolerance for ambiguity for working in the “white space” of population health and clinical integration evolution.
  • Expert analytical, organizational, and problem recognition/avoidance/resolution skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office and relevant software applications.
  • Working knowledge of information technology and ability to project manage information systems team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) Degree in Health Care related field
  • 5 years Track record of leading organizational growth
  • 7 years Progressive Leadership experience
  • Capital planning or capital project management.
  • Facilities management, planning and design principles, and construction delivery methods.
  • Knowledge of hospital and ambulatory facilities and systems

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The annual base salary range for this position is $220,064.00 - $363,105.00.
